Chapter 79: Entanglements

I shook my head. "I'm okay."

Staring into those familiar eyes, I was a bit confused about what had happened to Uncle.

"Uncle, what's wrong with you? Why did you disappear for so long?"

Hearing this, Uncle got angry. He stared at me, his eyes extremely sharp.

"Tell me, why did you go to that kind of place? Do you know what you're doing?"

I shook my head. "I don't know what I'm doing. How could I know? If I did, I wouldn't have gotten involved with them."

Uncle was frustrated with me, but I was helpless.

"How's Fatty?"

I didn't have time to ask Uncle why he was here. I first cared about Fatty's injury.

When Uncle heard me mention Fatty, his expression immediately became a bit strange. He looked into my eyes and whispered.

"Fatty is badly injured. I don't know if he can get up. Be careful."

I stared into his eyes and frowned. "What's going on?"

I knew what Uncle meant. The thing on Fatty was definitely like a ticking time - bomb.

I didn't know what would happen to Fatty, but I could guess.

"Uncle."

I reached out and grabbed his arm, whispering, "I feel something's not right. Do you think Fatty can really be saved? What on earth is that thing on Fatty?"

Uncle shook his head. "We still have to go back to the big hospital in the capital for treatment. This is just the best hospital in the nearby town. Although it's not bad, it's not at the level where it can answer all your questions."

Hearing this, my heart sank even more. I forced a smile, not knowing what to do.

I stared into Uncle's eyes and shivered. "But I always feel that there's something wrong with Fatty's situation. Was he set up?"

Uncle sneered. "What do you think? If you weren't set up, then what was it? I've told you before that this has nothing to do with you."

Originally, I felt a bit guilty, but seeing Uncle's attitude, the anger in my heart flared up again.

"What do you mean it has nothing to do with me? Do you think that's possible? We grew up together. Our friendship goes without saying. How could it have nothing to do with me?"

Uncle wiped the sweat off his face. Looking at his somewhat haggard expression, I felt bad too.

"Sorry."

I was the first to bow my head and apologize to Uncle. Uncle shook his head, his expression full of dejection. When I saw his look, I didn't know what to do either.

"Can I go and see him?"

Uncle didn't say anything, but he still stopped me.

"He's been taken away. He's not here. You can go and see him later."

I stared into Uncle's eyes to make sure he wasn't lying, then I lay down, feeling a bit relieved.

Uncle had no reason to lie to me about this. If Uncle said he was gone, then he was really gone.

I walked to the front, trying to find the person I was looking for, but I found nothing.

The only people Uncle rescued from underground were Fatty and me. I wanted to ask him if he had seen Yan Yan, but Uncle's answer disappointed me.

"No. When I got there, do you know what your situation was like? If we hadn't gone, you might not have seen me."

I didn't know how bad our situation was at that time, but I could guess from Uncle's angry expression.

Strange. Where was Yan Yan?

I frowned, thinking about what had happened recently. I didn't think a living person could just disappear out of thin air.

I stared at Uncle suspiciously. "Uncle, how did you find that place?"

I actually had a doubt. Uncle was rich and powerful. He didn't have to get involved in these messy things, but now he was deeply involved.

The extent of his involvement was beyond our imagination. I thought Uncle should give me an explanation, but obviously, Uncle didn't intend to explain his actions as I expected.

"Don't worry about so many things. This is our adults' business. It has nothing to do with you kids."

When he said this, I was almost furious. Look at what he was saying. Was that human language?

Knock, knock, knock. The door of the ward was knocked. I turned my head and met the eyes of the person coming in. I was almost scared to death.

I saw a well - dressed man with glasses come in. When he saw me, he winked at me playfully, looking so familiar as if we were old friends.

I shivered and twitched my lips in disgust. I asked bluntly, "Why are you here?"

Not to mention the time this glasses - wearing man set me up, but why was he here?

Uncle stared at the man with glasses. When I said this, Uncle immediately frowned and looked back at me.

"Don't you know who he is?"

I was confused by Uncle's question. "Should I know him?"

Uncle smiled. His frowning brows gradually relaxed. He sighed but didn't say anything.

When he shook his head and was about to leave, his movement suddenly froze. He looked back at me and added while holding back his laughter, "He's Xu Yang."

Ah? What? Don't lie to me. I don't have much education.

I and Xu Yang got to know each other through a conflict. Our relationship had been a bit delicate before. Now you're telling me that the guy who almost killed me underground was none other than Xu Yang.

"Uncle, are you kidding me?"

My eyes were full of disbelief, but Uncle didn't intend to say anything for me. He stared at me with a rather amused look.

"Alright, alright. You two, just let it be. You can talk later if you have a chance."

I thought to myself, who wants to talk to him? This is too scary. Did my memory go wrong?

The man with glasses gave me a charming smile and showed his familiar face. He directly tore off the mask on his face like it was a piece of rag.

My pupils suddenly constricted. I shivered and twitched my lips in disgust. What was going on?

The other person didn't say anything. Instead, he winked at me in a funny way. I ignored him and turned to look at Uncle.

"He's an undercover agent I placed in that family. For so many years, he's obtained a lot of intelligence from their family."

Thinking of the first time I met Xu Yang, he looked so lazy. He didn't seem like an undercover agent at all.

I was a bit confused about that expedition. If Xu Yang and Uncle had always been on the same side, why did our camps always clash?
