Chapter 86: Stagnation

Yan Yan's expression also showed a moment of stagnation. He looked left and right, then fixed his gaze on the old man, his eyes emitting a dangerous glint.

With such an obvious inquiring look on his face, the old man burst into laughter.

The principal walked up to Yan Yan. "Let me introduce him to you. This is your new roommate. Come and get to know each other."

The young man named A Bai stared at me with an extremely solemn expression. He might as well have written the words on his face.

I thought to myself, you really don't need to be so on guard against me. Is it really necessary?

A Bai's gaze towards me was full of suspicion. I had no doubt that if it weren't for Yan Yan, the principal, and Xu Yang being here, he would definitely have a showdown with me.

I sighed, not knowing what expression I should put on.

"A Bai?" I asked tentatively. "It seems you've never met me before. How about we get along peacefully from now on? We're all roommates now. There's no need to be like this."

A Bai sneered. "You'd better know your place, or I'll make you regret it."

After saying that, he turned around and walked into the inner room. I let out a sigh of relief, exchanged a glance with Xu Yang, and the two of us continued walking inside.

The house looked like a bungalow from the outside, but it was quite spacious inside. After walking down a flight of steps, a deep corridor came into view.

There was actually a whole different world underground. I looked at Yan Yan, with countless questions on the tip of my tongue.

For example, why did he suddenly appear here? Had he been forced to hide to this extent just to avoid his clan?

Yan Yan's gaze slightly dimmed. He turned his head to the side and said nothing, looking a bit forced.

I sighed, took two steps forward, grabbed Yan Yan's arm, and pulled him to the side.

Xu Yang saw what we were doing behind him but didn't say anything.

"Come here." I dragged Yan Yan to a corner and stared at him seriously. "What on earth are you up to?"

Yan Yan shrugged. "I'm not up to anything. I just hope you'll be a good boy and listen to me."

Yan Yan patted my shoulder, his expression full of meaning. God knows this guy has never had good intentions.

If he looked at me with such an expression, it was very likely that I would really have to stay here.

"Yan Yan, tell me the truth. What's going on here?"

"Just keep walking forward. I'll have plenty of time to tell you later."

The principal's cold voice came from ahead. I shivered and closed my mouth.

The sound of knocking echoed in my ears.

"It'll be very difficult for you to settle down here. Do you really think it'll be that easy?"

The young man in white in front turned around, his words full of sarcasm.

Xu Yang couldn't help but butt in. "Don't think I don't know your background. Are you satisfied with how things turned out? Don't worry. I'll protect you."

Xu Yang put my arm on his wrist, looking like we were good brothers.

I twitched the corner of my mouth. To be honest, anyone could tell that this guy didn't like me.

But it didn't really matter to me. It was of no consequence.

The group came to a door. The sign was right in front of our eyes.

The dark corridor around was extremely quiet. I even suspected that in this underground dark corridor, we were the only living people.

"Are there any other students in there?"

"Uh, there aren't any in this building."

When the principal said this, there was no trace of embarrassment on his face. Instead, he looked extremely proud, as if he was introducing how great his school was.

"There used to be a lot of people here. At most, more than a dozen dormitories were filled. You're currently the third group of roommates. There will be more people in the future. So, keep up the good work!"

A middle - aged man who looked quite old made a coquettish gesture. I suspected that the otherworldly and elegant master I knew before might have been an illusion.

I looked at Yan Yan. His expression remained unchanged. He still had that icy look on his face. Xu Yang and A Bai beside him both looked cold.

A Bai was the pale - faced man. I didn't know if this was his code name or his real name, but the former was more likely.

"You'll be assigned some tasks regularly here. Of course, it depends on your own choice. Every year, we'll evaluate your points. If you get enough points, you can do what you want. If not, we'll have to put you in detention."

"What are these points?"

Sure enough, my ominous premonition came true.

I saw this amazing principal curl up a subtle smile and utter a few words.

"Points, as the name suggests, can be used to exchange for money. Of course, since you kids are still too young, we won't let you earn money to buy points. As long as you get what the principal wants, you can exchange for points."

"Things? What kind of things?"

When I heard this, my first thought was of some inappropriate things.

I tentatively asked this question. Sure enough, I saw the other person roll their eyes at me and walk away.

I swallowed hard and looked at Yan Yan beside me. What was going on?

I tentatively asked, "Is it really like this?"

The other person nodded. "Yes, it is."

"Then why did you agree?"

I was really confused. Why would he agree?

I wanted to say something, but I held back halfway.

I sighed. "Tell me the truth. Did you come here on purpose?"

These things are all related to money. Although I didn't know what this person wanted us to do, it just didn't seem right.

The sound of knocking rang in my ears. I turned around and looked at the opposite room, only to find that the door was already sealed with old seals.

And even more strangely, there was something inside the door constantly knocking on it.

Note, it was knocking from the inside out.

I frowned and took two steps back. I looked at the guy beside me and asked, "What's in there? There's no one inside, right?"

Xu Yang swallowed hard and whispered, "What do you think?"

I didn't say a word.

"Why did you do this? You could have just not come."

A Bai beside me, as if seeing a funny joke, directly butted in.

"Do you think he can stay out of trouble after what he did? You're just too naive."
