Feeling our gazes fixed on him, he tilted his body curiously and glanced behind him where there was no one.
"What's up? Why are you looking at me like that? You all look like you've got a bone to pick with me."
I really wanted to ask the principal expressionlessly if he was serious. How could he be so brazen?
The principal seemed to sense the resentment in our looks. He instinctively glanced back, but still looked at us, utterly confused.
"Don't tell me you've all fallen in love with me uncontrollably?"
I got a headache from middle - aged men making such jokes. I was about to mention the thing on the wall when someone sidled up and pinched my waist.
I shivered and kept my mouth shut. I swallowed hard and took two steps back.
This feeling was so uncomfortable that I tried to avoid that person and took two more hasty steps back.
The principal, seeing our seemingly intimate interaction, just gave us a knowing look.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
I forced a smile and said, "Nothing. I just want to ask you something. I accidentally tore the painting on the wall just now."
What a lame excuse! I silently mocked myself for coming up with such a stupid reason.
Then, when the other person heard this, I gave an awkward smile.
I didn't believe he hadn't noticed before. The only possibility was...
I forced a sheepish smile and barely managed to utter, "What do you think?"
The other person didn't say a word. He carefully examined the unrecognizable wreckage on the ground and quipped, "Oops, sorry. I just took a look, and this painting seems to be quite expensive. Why don't you have a look?"
That guy rubbed his palms and gave a lecherous smile. I rolled my eyes at him.
I thought to myself that his skin was really thick!
I sighed helplessly and looked at the principal. It wasn't necessary for me to change rooms. If all the rooms here were like this, then I didn't think the others would be any better.
"I don't quite understand what's going on. You don't have to play tricks on us like this, do you?"
The principal sighed helplessly. "You can't solve this kind of thing with a painting. But since you're so eager to know, I don't mind telling you."
Suddenly, he leaned in with a mischievous smile. Before I could react, his cold palm landed on my back.
With a loud bang, a chair came hurtling towards me.
My eyes widened instantly. I took two steps back, looking ugly. I stared at the guy behind me and gritted my teeth. "What are you doing?"
I couldn't believe that guy had tried to hit me. I looked at him in disbelief, but Yan Yan's gaze wasn't on me. Instead, he was looking straight at the principal.
When the principal met Yan Yan's eyes, he first shrank his neck and finally kept his mouth shut.
I looked around and realized something when I saw the broken stool.
I was so slow - witted that I only just realized he had actually been trying to protect me.
I swallowed hard and forced a smile. Although my heart was filled with a sweet feeling, the bruise on my waist from his earlier rough handling was still very real.
I swallowed again and held my pose as if frozen.
I raised my hands high and tentatively said to him, "If I'm not mistaken, you're trying to..."
All the men around looked at me.
When the words "protect me" were about to come out of my mouth, the looks they gave me were pretty much the same as the looks they'd give a fool.
"Otherwise, what do you think?"
This sudden confession caught me off - guard. But the next second, I immediately lowered my head shyly.
My shy look seemed to disgust A Bai. He first rolled his eyes and then quickly averted his gaze.
"I don't want to talk to you. People like you are heartless anyway."
I thought to myself, What do you mean I'm heartless? Can't you be reasonable?
But even so, I didn't say anything. When I turned to leave, my movement suddenly stalled.
I looked at that guy and tentatively asked, "I seem to be a bit confused. What do you mean?"
I said it in a low voice, but unexpectedly, that person just winked at me.
I froze on the spot. I swallowed hard and turned around to run away.
"Hey, stop right there!"
Someone shouted from behind. I didn't even look back and just wanted to make a quick escape.
Are you kidding me? Only a fool wouldn't run at this moment.
"What a silly kid. Why does he have to be like this?"
The principal's sigh came from behind. Then something else made a noise, and I fell to the ground, crying out in searing pain.
"Let me go. Help! Yan Yan, save me!"
I knew it was kind of shameless of me to call for help at the drop of a hat, but what else could I do? I was at my wit's end.
I struggled to get up from the ground and looked at Yan Yan with a pleading look in my eyes.
"Yan Yan, help me."
Without saying a word, Yan Yan stepped in front of me.
"You kids are really no fun."
Can you believe what he said?
How was I supposed to know I was being spied on? I rolled my eyes so hard and directly tore off the seal.
As soon as I tore it off, I immediately sensed something was wrong. Obviously, there was just a simple white mark on the other side of the seal.
Normally, it shouldn't have reacted like this when I tore it off.
I swallowed hard and forced a smile. What was going on?
I felt like I was under the malevolent control of the universe. Oh no, I was in big trouble!
The principal sighed and turned around to leave. Just before he left, a leisurely voice came.
"I'm telling you, if this matter isn't resolved, you'll all be stuck in this building."
A Bai's voice came through gritted teeth. "You're good for nothing but causing trouble. What else can you do?"
I was completely dazed. I thought to myself, What did I do? Then the next second, I immediately realized something.
I seemed to have really caused a big problem this time. What should I do?
Xu Yang patted my shoulder and gave me a smile. "It's okay. They were spying on you. You were just defending yourself."
As he said this, he took out a bag from his backpack and handed it to me.
Wait, I realized something and immediately froze on the spot.
