Chapter 16 Drowning Sorrows in Wine

When she opened the bathroom door, there was no one in the bedroom doorway. Wen Sining quickly walked towards the door and looked down at the lock.

She wasn't mistaken. Someone had come in.

"Did you just come in?"

As soon as Wen Sining stepped out, there was only the maid at the door. After her accusing voice faded, she saw the key in the maid's hand.

"Madam, don't lock the door from the inside for no reason. No one's going to attack you," the maid reminded impatiently.

She's so flat-chested. I don't know who she's guarding against.

There was no attempt to hide the contempt in her eyes. Without others around, the maid didn't take Wen Sining seriously at all.

Wen Sining didn't argue with her. There were plenty of people who looked down on others. If she argued with each one, she'd be exhausted.

She had a good idea of who had come in. She turned around and went back into the room.

"Pfft. Who does she think she is? An ugly freak. If it weren't for her good fortune to be born into the Wen family, she'd probably be a beggar somewhere," the maid venomously spoke ill of her behind her back.

...

Deafening rock music accompanied by colorful lights filled the air. Men and women waved their arms and swayed their bodies on the dance floor.

A woman in a strapless miniskirt with long waist-length hair walked out of the crowd with a glass in her hand. Her squinted eyes were like a radar, scanning the booths in front of the dance floor.

Suddenly, her gaze fixed on a corner.

"Hey, handsome. Have a drink with me?" The woman had a slender waist, and her ample bosom was almost in the man's face.

"Get lost!" Lu Luochen looked up, and his gloomy face scared the woman away.

His well-defined fingers picked up the glass and he tilted his head back to down the whiskey in one gulp.

"Don't you know that drowning your sorrows in wine only makes them worse?"

A hand accompanied by a voice stopped Lu Luochen from reaching for another glass.

Looking up, Lu Luochen sneered. "You're late."

"Your drinking capacity has improved. You haven't gotten drunk with so many empty bottles in front of you, and you still remember I'm late."

The speaker was Feng Jingcheng, Lu Luochen's childhood friend since they were in diapers. He took a long stride and sat down next to Lu Luochen, throwing a glass of wine in front of him.

"I heard Chu Tong's back?"

"Yeah."

Lu Luochen swirled the glass, staring at the small whirlpool inside.

Feng Jingcheng, who had just returned to the country a few days ago, saw the gossip news about Lu Luochen as soon as he got off the plane. Later, he learned from their mutual friends that Lu Luochen was about to marry the eldest daughter of the Wen family.

"Drink less. If you drink too much and go back, the old man will scold you," Feng Jingcheng said, moving the bottle away.

"I signed an agreement with the old man," Lu Luochen said with a bitter smile, looking at Feng Jingcheng.

"Agreement?"

"Isn't it ridiculous? In order to let Chu Tong come back to the country, I have to marry a fool," Lu Luochen said, feeling irritated just thinking about Wen Sining's ugly face.

Feng Jingcheng had heard a bit about the Wen family. The company was on the verge of going bankrupt in Wen Shiqian's hands, and his son was an alcoholic.

As for the eldest daughter of the Wen family, there wasn't much information about her. Everyone had heard of her, but she rarely appeared in public.

Feng Jingcheng gave Lu Luochen a sympathetic look and asked, "So what are you going to do? Really marry her?"

"What can I do?" Lu Luochen said helplessly. "I have to be careful when meeting Chu Tong, and I also have to guard against the old man secretly investigating her and forcing her to leave Licheng again."

If there were really a way, he wouldn't be in the bar getting drunk now.

Feng Jingcheng patted him on the shoulder and voluntarily put the glass in his hand.

As a brother, all he could do at this moment was to drink with him to drown his sorrows.

After a few bottles of whiskey, Lu Luochen was completely drunk. He slumped on the sofa, still shouting Yun Chutong's name in his sleep.

Feng Jingcheng didn't drink much. He paid the bill and helped Lu Luochen out of the bar.

The wind blew, and Lu Luochen sobered up a bit. He weakly lifted his eyelids, broke free from Feng Jingcheng, and his heavy head made his body sway.

"You're drunk. I'll call a taxi to take you home now," Feng Jingcheng said.

"I'm not drunk. I can walk by myself," Lu Luochen said.

After taking two steps, he almost fell to the ground.

Feng Jingcheng hugged his waist from behind and put his arm on his shoulder. "Yeah, you're not drunk. I'm the one who's drunk. You need to get me home quickly. I don't want to sleep on the street."

"I want to find Chu Tong. I love her. I don't want to marry other women. I don't want to have children with other women..."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. You love Chu Tong. You want to have children with Chu Tong. I'll help you find her right now."

"Really?"

"Of course. When have I ever lied to you?"

Feng Jingcheng coaxed and helped Lu Luochen into the taxi. He fastened his seatbelt and told the driver the address.

The colorful lights outside the window didn't belong to them. Lu Luochen was dead drunk, but he kept muttering Yun Chutong's name.

When they arrived at the Lu family mansion, Feng Jingcheng called the maid.

"Mr. Feng, did you go drinking?" Uncle Bai came over in his coat after hearing the commotion.

The smell of alcohol on them was so strong that people might think they'd been pickled in a wine vat.

Feng Jingcheng struggled to hold the unruly Lu Luochen and nervously glanced into the house. "Uncle Bai, is Grandpa Lu asleep?"

"Yes, he is," Uncle Bai said. "Hurry up and help him in. If the old master sees this, he'll scold the young master again."

The maid took Lu Luochen from Feng Jingcheng and helped him into the living room.

After seeing Feng Jingcheng off, Uncle Bai quickly came to the living room.

"Quickly help him into the room."

In the room, after Wen Sining knew Lu Luochen had gone out, she lay on the bed at ease. She had slept on the sofa last night and didn't sleep well at all. Her whole body ached.

As soon as her body touched the soft bed at night, sleepiness instantly overwhelmed her.

"Master, lift your feet."

Four or five maids were helping Lu Luochen. They might as well have tied him up and carried him back.

When they reached the door, Lu Luochen suddenly opened his eyes. He stared at the maids and pushed them away fiercely.

"Uncle Bai, what's wrong with the young master?"

Seeing Lu Luochen go into the room and lock the door from the inside, Uncle Bai could only look on helplessly.

"Alright, all of you go and rest. The young mistress is inside. The young master will be fine," Uncle Bai said, looking worriedly at the closed door.

I don't know if she can take care of a drunk person!

Lu Luochen staggered to the bedside and looked down at the bulge under the quilt.

"Chu Tong, are you waiting for me?" Lu Luochen slurred, "I'm sorry. I made you wait for me again."

He lifted the quilt and got in.

Wen Sining, who was sleeping soundly, suddenly felt a chill. She opened her eyes groggily and saw a handsome face in front of her.

"Lu Luochen!"

All of Wen Sining's sleepiness disappeared.

Lu Luochen crawled on top of Wen Sining and pinned her down with his arms.

"Chu Tong~"

As he opened his mouth, a strong smell of alcohol sprayed on Wen Sining's face.

"You're drunk. I'm not your white moonlight," Wen Sining said, quickly trying to push Lu Luochen away.
