Chapter 270: A Chance Encounter

Wen Sining looked at the girl and didn't feel any repulsion towards her.

"It's okay. I'll come to you if I need anything."

"Sure, Grandma. I'll always be at your service," Qingtang replied.

Wen Sining nodded. After Qingtang left, Lu Luochen introduced her identity. "She grew up with me. She's the granddaughter of the old butler."

Wen Sining immediately understood.

The two of them went downstairs, and Lu Luochen showed her around the mansion.

After a tour, Wen Sining found that the mansion was much larger than she had imagined. There was even a library. She felt as if she had visited a scenic spot.

"How many rooms are there in this mansion?" Wen Sining couldn't help asking.

Lu Luochen thought for a while before answering, "Around seventy or eighty." He had never counted the exact number.

"So many!" Wen Sining exclaimed. It seemed that it must have been a bit of a squeeze for him to live in the Lu Family Mansion.

"What's so many? It's all yours," Lu Luochen said.

Wen Sining smiled. "By the way, where's Grandpa?" They hadn't seen him since they entered.

"He should be chatting with Uncle Li." It had been a long time since they last met. They must have a lot to talk about.

Wen Sining knew that Uncle Li was the butler here and about the same age as Grandpa Lu.

As they were talking, they returned to the yard. Just then, Qingtang came over with a bowl of tremella and lotus seed congee. Seeing them, she immediately said, "Grandma, I was just about to look for you. Come on. I made some tremella and lotus seed congee."

"Thank you," Wen Sining said with a smile.

"Don't mention it. Try it and see how it tastes," Qingtang said. The lotus seeds were all fresh.

Wen Sining picked up a spoon and took a sip. It really tasted good. "Do you want to try some?" She looked up at Lu Luochen.

Lu Luochen shook his head. He glanced at his watch. It was almost six o'clock. "I need to go upstairs for a half - hour video conference. I'll be down later." Although he was not in the company, he still had to handle his work.

"Go ahead."

Lu Luochen went upstairs.

Qingtang continued to talk to Wen Sining. "Grandma, it would be great if you came in summer. You could eat the lotus seeds here." But it wasn't the season now.

"Sure. I'll come when I'm free," Wen Sining said, sensing a hint of disappointment in Qingtang's words.

"Really?" Qingtang couldn't quite believe it. Usually, Lu Luochen and Grandpa Lu rarely came back.

"Of course it's true," Wen Sining said firmly.

Qingtang smiled. Since they came back, the mansion had become much livelier.

Soon, Wen Sining finished the tremella and lotus seed congee.

"Grandma, if you like it, I'll make it for you every day," Qingtang said. She loved cooking, which was why she stayed with Lu Luochen.

"Then I'll trouble you."

Qingtang said it was okay and went to clear the dishes.

Wen Sining then took out her phone and saw a message from Qiao Xi.

[How do you feel?]

She knew that Wen Sining had come here with Lu Luochen today.

[It's great. I found that Lu Luochen's mansion is huge. I just took a tour. It was like visiting a scenic spot. By the way, I took some photos. I'll send them to you now.] Wen Sining sent the photos.

On the other end of the phone, Qiao Xi looked at the photos and was extremely envious.

[I feel like you've picked up a treasure, Mrs. Lu. Do you still need a gatekeeper there?]

Wen Sining found Qiao Xi's message quite funny.

[Hahaha. You can come anytime you want.]

Wen Sining invited her.

[I must go there once.]

Such a wonderful place, yet Lu Luochen rarely went back. If it were her, she would never want to leave.

[I'll always welcome you.]

After chatting for a while, Wen Sining put down her phone. Just then, Lu Luochen came downstairs.

"All done?" Wen Sining turned to ask him.

"Yeah. Let's go. Dinner should be ready."

Wen Sining went with him to the dining room. The dishes were being served one by one. Grandpa Lu and Uncle Li were still chatting. Seeing Wen Sining, Grandpa Lu waved to her.

"Uncle Li," Wen Sining greeted.

"This is Luochen's wife. She's so elegant. You two really make a perfect couple," Uncle Li said, looking at them.

Wen Sining felt a bit embarrassed and a blush crept onto her face. Were they really that well - matched?

At seven o'clock, the three of them, along with Qingtang and Uncle Li, sat around the dining table for dinner. Naturally, Lu Luochen sat on Wen Sining's right.

To be honest, the food tasted really good. Wen Sining thought it was even better than that in some five - star hotels.

After dinner, it was still early. Wen Sining suggested taking a walk outside. Lu Luochen agreed. He originally wanted to accompany her, but he still had some work to do.

It was really busy at the end of the year. Lu Luochen planned to finish his work today and tomorrow so that he could spend the rest of the days with Wen Sining and Grandpa.

Wen Sining understood. She said she would just take a stroll around and come back.

"Do you want Qingtang to go with you?"

Wen Sining shook her head. "I'll just take a walk by myself."

"Okay. Be careful and come back early. Call me if there's anything," Lu Luochen reminded.

Wen Sining walked out of the old mansion. As she walked on the road, she found that Lu Luochen's mansion was the largest in this villa area.

"Sister," a childish voice came from behind her.

Wen Sining, who was walking forward, turned around and looked in the direction of the sound. It was the little girl she had met at the airport today. There were two adults beside her. One was her mother, whom she had just met today, and the other was a man, presumably the little girl's father.

"Youyou, what a coincidence," Wen Sining said. She really didn't expect to meet them here.

Youyou's mother also greeted Wen Sining.

"Sister," Youyou took Wen Sining's hand.

Wen Sining squatted down to look at her at eye level. "Youyou, you can't call me sister. You should call me auntie." After all, she was married now. It wasn't quite appropriate to be called sister, especially by such a little girl.

"Why?" Youyou didn't understand.

"You'll understand this as you grow up," Wen Sining said, stroking her head.

Youyou nodded half - understandingly. "Sister, come to my house and play with me, okay?"

"Sure, but I can only stay for a while. I still need to go home," Wen Sining said. She didn't want Lu Luochen and Grandpa Lu to worry about her.
