Chapter 39: Death

Someone couldn't help but laugh and said, "I said, Fatty, you really aren't afraid of death at all."

This guy didn't feel the least bit embarrassed. Instead, he puffed out his thick chest and let out a chuckle. "Aren't you curious?"

Could there really be ghosts in this world? Anyway, Fatty didn't believe it.

"I say, we might as well go and take a good look at what's really going on. Besides, I'm quite interested in that guy too."

I frowned and stared into Fatty's eyes. "Who are you interested in?"

Fatty rolled his eyes at me. "Who do you think? Of course it's Yan Yan. Yan Yan just disappeared like that. Do you really think that was a coincidence?"

I furrowed my brows and thought carefully. Yan Yan had left that day too abruptly. Just when we'd found evidence that my second uncle had deceived me, the next second he was gone.

I had to admit, it made me think a lot. Fatty looked at my skeptical expression and nodded in satisfaction.

"You're not completely hopeless. You can tell there's something wrong. I suspect there are two possibilities. First, all this is a play staged by your second uncle. Yan Yan and your second uncle are in cahoots."

"Second..."

Fatty gave a devilish smile and said the thing I least wanted to hear.

"It's that all of us have been played by Yan Yan. Or maybe your second uncle is also in great danger."

I felt quite conflicted. I didn't know whether the first possibility was better or the second. Anyway, I just didn't want anything to happen to my second uncle.

"Let's go."

I looked at A Jin. "You've told us so much. You should know where we're going next, right?"

I didn't believe that my second uncle hadn't made any preparations at all, nor did I believe that A Jin had really been forced to tell us all this.

I didn't know about other things, but if he didn't want to, no one could force him.

A Jin gave a bitter smile. "I originally wanted to tell you slowly after a while, but it seems it's too late now."

A Jin stretched out his intact arm and tremblingly held it out in front of me. "You should know what this is, right?"

I stared into his eyes and forced a smile. "Is this a map?"

I didn't reach out to take it. Maybe it was because A Jin's blood - covered arm was a bit hard for me to accept.

Fatty snatched the map right away and scrutinized it closely. When he saw the patterns on the map, his face instantly turned a bit pale.

Fatty sighed and whispered, "I think there's something off about this. Are you sure you want to go?"

They held the map in front of me and compared it with the materials we had before. We found that this thing was really strange.

The shape shown on the map was none other than a bug in flight. The whole area was a basin - like uneven terrain, and the circled part was exactly a bug in flight.

Although I wasn't very clear about the types of bugs, I was quite sure that this thing was off.

Seeing my serious expression, Fatty first smiled, then immediately leaned in. "What, even you have finally noticed something wrong. Isn't this bug a bit strange?"

I nodded, not knowing what expression to use to convey how I felt at the moment.

Fatty looked into my eyes and sighed. "Let's go."

He put away the map and patted A Jin on the shoulder. "You've had a tough time. Although I don't know why you did all this, go to the hospital quickly. Maybe you can still get your arm reattached."

I didn't say a word. Although the technology was quite advanced now, based on my understanding of the situation just now, I doubted it would work.

"Fatty, let's go."

I patted Fatty on the shoulder. Fatty drove the car, and the two of us left quickly.

We were silent in the car. Fatty glanced at me with a smile. "What's wrong? You don't look happy at all. Maybe you'll get to see the person you want to see."

I rolled my eyes at Fatty and didn't say a word. "What do you mean? I think you'd better stop mocking me, okay?"

This guy was really going too far.

Fatty wiped the sweat off his forehead and sighed. "Actually, I've always suspected that we've been played not just by your second uncle."

"What do you mean?"

I was just about to ask, but the next second I understood. Fatty was right. It seemed that this trip to Yunnan was a must.

"How do you know the address A Jin gave you is wrong? Are you sure it's Yunnan?"

I glanced at Fatty and said with a smile, "What do you think?"

Fatty shook his head. "How would I know? I have no idea. But that place is really strange."

Fatty frowned. "What's with your reaction?"

I reached into my pocket and took out something. I waved it in front of Fatty. After seeing his incredulous expression, I raised my eyebrows, looking quite proud.

"Damn, you're amazing. Where did you get this?"

Fatty looked at me like I was some kind of monster. It seemed his three views had been completely shattered.

"Of course it's something I should have."

I sighed and turned to look out of the window again. "I got this from what Yan Yan left behind."

That guy was either really slow or overly sensitive. He had given me a token like an amulet when we were underground.

The words on this thing were quite obscure, but since I'd read a few ancient books at home when I was a kid, I could tell that the characters written in ancient inscriptions were the words "Yunnan".

I didn't know why A Jin had staged this play, or if he was really that unlucky and had been used. But so what? Let it be for now.

"We need to make good preparations before this trip. Don't be like last time. Without your second uncle to protect us, we might face a lot of difficulties."

I understood what he said, and it was indeed the case. I rubbed my head. I had a bit of a headache. The two of us didn't go back to the shop directly. Instead, we drove straight to a store.

The store owner looked at me curiously and greeted me. "Hey, young master, what's going on? How come you have time to come to my place?"

I greeted him with a smile. "This is my friend."

Fatty wasn't shy at all. He waved casually. "I heard you have some good stuff here. We're going on a big trip soon. Could you introduce some to us?"

Hearing this, the store owner immediately sized us up. His gaze was like looking at gorillas in a zoo.

"It's not easy, my young master. You don't usually get involved in this kind of thing. Why are you suddenly interested in this?"

Old Xiao was very surprised, but I didn't think it was strange at all. I sighed and said helplessly to him, "Don't worry about this. Anyway, we need your help. Money is not a problem."
